Decimalisation tea towel - 1971

To celebrate Decimalisation a number of manufacturers made souvenirs to celebrate this historic occasion.
This magnificent tea towel looks like it was never used. It was a reminder of the new coins and how much they were worth in pounds, shillings and pence. It also showed a conversion table.
Strangely it includes a picture of the Bank of England. The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street was responsible for banknotes, but not coins. Other than withdrawing the ten shilling note in 1970, the Bank did not have much to do with Decimalisation. The coins were down to the Royal Mint.
You could also buy chocolate decimal coins as well as decimal toys and games.
