Austin/Morris Mini

The Austin Mini from the 60s

The Austin/Morris Mini was the car of the 60s. Launched in 1959 as the peoples' car to a revolutionary design by Alec Issigonis, the Mini defined motoring in the 60s. It was a cheap car for the young and fashionable. The original Mini fitted into the smallest parking space making it attractive to those who could afford more expensive transport. The peoples' car then became the car of the stars.

Three Monte Carlo Rally wins for the Mini Cooper S confirmed the Mini's sporting pedigree. It was a favourite for young men wanting a cheap, sporty saloon. The Mini was the car to be seen in.
