ITV - The Royal - The Cast

The Doctors

Dr Jill Weatherill (Amy Robbins)

Despite being Mrs Gordon Ormerod, Dr Jill Weatherill maintains her independence at the Royal by continuing to practice under her maiden name, which her husband Gordon has, with some reluctance, come to accept.

In the first series of the Royal, we see Jill as a professional caring doctor, who goes the extra mile for her patients, little mention is made of her private life, until towards the end of the series, when Gordon, who is suffering from marital problems, confides in Jill and also reveals that he is very fond of her, in fact more fond of her than Jill realises. Gordon grows even closer to Jill after the bus crash, in which his first wife, Caroline, is seriously injured, especially when he learns that his wife was actually in the process of leaving him, taking their two children, Katie and Tom, with her. They maintain a discrete relationship throughout and even separate when the relationship becomes public knowledge. But eventually, true love blossoms and Jill and Gordon are married (after an explosion) with all their colleagues from the Royal in attendance. Now, they are celebrating the arrival of their first child.
