My retro decor

We are always looking for ideas to inspire retro decoration. If you have a great retro interior, do let us know. We would love to see some pictures. Tell us about what inspired you, where you bought your furniture, lamp shades, carpets and wallpaper from.

Did you get original pieces or buy new, retro style pieces? Were there some eBay bargains, or did you find a table in the right style at Habitat, Heals or Homebase?

To provide some inspiration this picture on the left is from the USA in 1971. Bright colours from the sixties were fading; the early 70s was the era of beige.  There is some restrained minimalism applied to the design.  Rectangles prevail.

Whether your inspiration is the 50s' diner, or the Ashes to Ashes look, we would like to hear from you.  Perhaps you want to recreate a period, or just want a few retro touches in an overall modern look. 

Retro kitchen

Do you have a retro kitchen?  Is it an original from the sixties, or a modern kitchen in a retro style.  If you do, let us know, we would love to feature it on the site. 

This kitchen, left, is also from the US in 1971.  It features some modern touches, but the wooden units evoke an older period.  This mixture of old and new was characteristic of more fashionable kitchen design from the late sixties onwards.
