I am looking to class up my apartment but I only have less than 2 grand. My boyfriend and i are first time buyers and have just bought a flat (october 2008) and we basically had no furniture apart from the odd cheap bits from argos or ikea!
A friend recommended www.oakfurnitureland.co.uk as they do really cheap solid oak furniture. We bought bedroom furniture, dining table and chairs and 5 pieces for the living room and it came to £1865! Not bad really! And they offer free delivery which also really helped! Its all 100% solid oak, no MDF etc.

It's not exactly what you're looking for - but you can get an art deco kettle and retro toaster quite cheap off [www.retro-kitchen.co.uk] ... I love mine!
